# Filtering and searching for files

## Learn how to use the filter to view or search for files in the Files section

#### Overview

To organize your file management, view technical and advanced information, or navigate files by workspace, initiative, or assets type, the **Files section** offers a **filtering and searching feature** among its navigation resources.

#### Using the filtering and searching for files

Through the file filter, you can set your viewing preferences according to the options available in the filters.

You can also search for a specific file. To do this:

- Access **Files** through the Wikimee **navigation menu ![1](https://help.wikimee.app/hs-fs/hubfs/Central%20Conhecimento/1.png?width=20&height=19&name=1.png)**.
- Click on the **filter** **button ![filtro_btn](https://help.wikimee.app/hs-fs/hubfs/Central%20Conhecimento/filtro_btn.png?width=20&height=20&name=filtro_btn.png)**, located to the right of the **view mode button ![2](https://help.wikimee.app/hs-fs/hubfs/Central%20Conhecimento/2.png?width=20&height=19&name=2.png)**, at the top of the **Files section**.

You can filter your view or search for a file by:

- **Term** - Word contained in tags or in the file name ![3](https://help.wikimee.app/hs-fs/hubfs/Central%20Conhecimento/3.png?width=20&height=19&name=3.png).
- **Category** - The predefined type of workspace: **Public** or **Private ![4](https://help.wikimee.app/hs-fs/hubfs/Central%20Conhecimento/4.png?width=20&height=19&name=4.png)**.
- **Workspace** - The name of the workspace related to the file ![5](https://help.wikimee.app/hs-fs/hubfs/Central%20Conhecimento/5.png?width=20&height=19&name=5.png).
- **Template** - The initiative template related to the file. E.g.: **Campaign**, **Event**, **Image Bank**, etc ![6](https://help.wikimee.app/hs-fs/hubfs/Central%20Conhecimento/6.png?width=20&height=19&name=6.png).
- **Initiative** - The name of the initiative related to the file ![7](https://help.wikimee.app/hs-fs/hubfs/Central%20Conhecimento/7.png?width=20&height=19&name=7.png).
- **Creative type** - The assets type related to the file. E.g.: **Flyer**, **Spot**, **Film**, **Display**, **Banner**, etc ![8](https://help.wikimee.app/hs-fs/hubfs/Central%20Conhecimento/8.png?width=20&height=19&name=8.png).
- **Color** - The **predominant colors** in the file ![9](https://help.wikimee.app/hs-fs/hubfs/Central%20Conhecimento/9.png?width=20&height=19&name=9.png).
- **File type** - The format of the file. E.g.: **Image**, **Audio**, **Video**, etc ![10](https://help.wikimee.app/hs-fs/hubfs/Central%20Conhecimento/10.png?width=20&height=19&name=10.png).
- **Publication** - The current publication status of the file: **Published**, **Unpublished**, **All ![11](https://help.wikimee.app/hs-fs/hubfs/Central%20Conhecimento/11.png?width=20&height=19&name=11.png).**
- **Period** - Interval with **start** and **final** **date** of the file's validity ![12](https://help.wikimee.app/hs-fs/hubfs/Central%20Conhecimento/12.png?width=20&height=19&name=12.png).
- **Upload** - Interval with **start** and **final** **date** of the file's upload ![13](https://help.wikimee.app/hs-fs/hubfs/Central%20Conhecimento/13.png?width=20&height=19&name=13.png).
- **Copyright alert** - Copyright indicator enabled on the file ![14](https://help.wikimee.app/hs-fs/hubfs/Central%20Conhecimento/14.png?width=20&height=19&name=14.png).

Click on **Clear** to reset your file view.
